The big NHS thank you

Donation protected

Tonight we opened our front doors to clap and cheer for the amazing carers in the UK, selflessly going to work to care for the rising numbers of patients suffering from COVID-19 that has turned the world upside down.  It was fuelled with emotion as the adoration of the British public towards our fantastic NHS was evident.

In a time where we are encouraged to isolate, it seems that isolation is bringing society closer together.  We have seen many acts of kindness from businesses and the public across the land, showing their support for those on the front lines.

This fund is being set up so that the Great British public can show their appreciation for the amazing humans in the NHS.  A way to thank you to our NHS heroes. The fund will go directly to the NHS workers so they can see how much we appreciate what they do for us.

I am a Mum of two young boys working out how to strike a balance between learning and fun whilst nursing sore muscles from our daily PE lesson with Joe Wicks! But my challenges pale into insignificance when I think about what our brilliant and selflessness NHS workers are facing. This is why I felt compelled to set this up.

I have sought advice from my local MP on how I ensure this gets to our NHS heroes and now in contact with key unions and organisations. Forgive me for not setting this up already but I was keen to get this up and running. Will keep you all posted as conversations progress.

Please give what you can to recognise our fabulous NHS, made fabulous because of all  the heroes that work for it.

UPDATE: After speaking to many organisations, charities, unions it is clear that getting these funds into the hands of NHS workers isn't possible.  So after a lot of research across multiple charities I have chosen to direct all funds raised here into the NHS Charities Together urgent COVID-19 appeal that acknowledges and supports NHS Staff, volunteers and patients impacted by COVID-19.

Donations could:

1) Funding well-being packs/gifts for staff and volunteers on wards/departments (this could include food deliveries, high energy/protein bars/drinks, snacks, refreshments, wash kits, overnight stay kits. Cost of travel, parking, accommodation for NHS staff and volunteers Volunteer expenses

2) Support isolated patients through providing devices to communicate with friends and family whilst in hospital or isolating

3) Longer term mental health support of NHS staff, volunteer, patients and their families

4) Help patients leave hospital quickly and safely and remain or stay out of hospital
