SAAKUMU Returns to the USA 2023!

Help me raise some funds for the Bernard Woma Dagara Music Center USA 501(c)(3) and help support the upcoming Saakumu Dance Troupe tour!

The work that Bernard Woma imparted to the world can not be understated. His influence as a performer, educator, entrepreneur, family man and ambassador have been revered in every corner of the world. In his life, he was referred to as a "national treasure of Ghana". In light of his death, we are charged with the quest to honor him and the light that he shared with the world. The Bernard Woma Dagara Music Center 501(c)3 is based in Buffalo, NY and has been created to facilitate this work.

We need your help for the upcoming tour with the SAAKUMU Dance Troupe from Ghana, West Africa. The group will be in the US from March - May 2023 and we are raising funds to help offset the overhead cost of the trip! This includes costs related to VISA's, Lawyers, Flights, Travel, Lodging, Food and Hotels.

 As you know, we are working hard to preserve the legacy of the late great Bernard Woma (world-renowned master musician and educator- recently awarded Hall of Fame member of the Percussive Arts Society). This will be our first tour in the US since the COVID pandemic began and we could use YOUR HELP.

Also, we miss you!

We would love to come back to visit you and continue to honor this relationship and celebrate with African music and dance-- the way Bernard would want! Together, we can tailor a program, concert, workshop or class to suit any budget or opportunities we can come up with.

Dates are limited and booking up quickly!

For a full day of drum and dance workshops, culminating in an assembly-style performance, we typically charge in the neighborhood of $3,500 per day. 

If it is a single performance without workshops, usually $1,500-2,500. 

If a single class or workshop- $500-1000

These are only guideline prices to begin the conversation. Some schools have more, and some have less; but it is really important to us to do what we can to cater to schools with restricted budgets and at the same time, ensure that our Ghanaian friends have a successful tour and can bring some funds back to their families in Africa. If we can make it work with the tour routing, we will make it happen!
