Help the horses

I run a horse shelter in the Interlake area and have rescued 18 horses in the past few years. A very nice elderly lady contacted me a few weeks ago and asked if I would be able to take in her horses. Due to the hay shortage this year I was resistant, I told her I would see what I could do and call her back. I contacted the other horse rescues in the area and all had the same concerns as I did. I went to see the horses a few days later and once I saw Leroy and Primrose I knew I had to help. I told the couple I would see what I could do for them.  As I was leaving the property I texted my hay supplier and asked if he had enough hay for me to rescue them. Before I got out of the driveway I got a text back with a yes! I backed down the driveway and went back to tell them the good news. The lady cried with relief. I gave her a hug and told her everything will be alright. I picked Primrose and Leroy up the following week.

As you can see Primrose is quite thin and in need of some extra nutrition to put on some weight before winter.  We have been feeding her a warm mash morning and evening and a blend of four different kinds of senior feed at lunch.  In addition to this, she is free grazing on grass until the snow comes.  They are both doing great and have improved tremendously over the past few weeks.  You can see a big difference in the body composition of primrose and the level of trust I see from both Leroy and Primrose is amazing!

If you are able to assist us financially with the extra cost due to the hay shortage, please donate.  We are very humbled and grateful for all the support we have received up to this point.  We still have a long way to go.  If you are unable to donate, please help by sharing.  Please follow us on social media for updates on Leroy and Primrose.
