<div>My name is David Brightwell, and I am reaching out to you with a heartfelt plea to support an old dear friend and his family, who have been devastated by <strong>the ongoing conflict in Gaza.</strong> I am fundraising for Kamel Ayyad’s family

<div><strong>Kamel</strong>: I'm a devoted father and husband, has seen his world shattered. At 52 years old, I worked tirelessly as a Public Relations Officer at the Church of St. Porphyrius in Gaza. My wife <strong>Bassma</strong>, and our three daughters—<strong>Joanna </strong>(20), <strong>Mera </strong>(18), and <strong>Natalie </strong>(14)—had built a life full of dreams and hope. We designed and constructed our home with love and dedication, investing over $80,000 into our dream.

<div>However, our lives were turned upside down in October 2023. The escalation of conflict forced us to flee our home, which was eventually destroyed. We sought refuge at our church, only to face further tragedy when a bombing killed 18 Christian civilians, including my <strong>niece Lisa</strong>, her husband <strong>Tareq</strong>, and their young son <strong>Issa</strong> . After enduring 37 days of siege, food and water shortages, and constant fear, we were finally able to escape to Egypt on November 13th, 2023.

<div><strong>Now in Egypt</strong>, my family are struggling to rebuild from nothing. We have lost all our possessions, our home, and our community. The once vibrant dreams we held are now overshadowed by the need for basic necessities and a safe place to start anew. Our lives in Egypt are fraught with anxiety about the future, compounded by the high cost of living and the need to replace everything that was lost.
