The 2020 "In Truth, We Must" Fundraising Campaign

Dear Partners, Supporters, and Community Members:

On June 17th, we commemorated Juneteenth by speaking to Truth & Reparations in response to police violence amidst the global pandemic. As the nation turns to July 4th, we reflect on Fredrick Douglass’s July 3, 1852 speech where he asked the U.S. citizenry, “What to the Slaves is the Fourth of July?” Provocatively, he states, “Fourth of July is yours, not mine. You may rejoice, I must mourn.” In Truth, We Must push back against the structures that keep us silenced and unheard.

The Truth Telling Project continues telling the stories from the grassroots about the deleterious effects of racism on Black and Brown communities. Through the strength of stories and personal narratives, we resist, build, repair and co-create. In Truth, We Must take continuous action to promote true justice and equality.

In response, we announce our 2020 Fundraising Campaign, “In Truth, We Must.” While we have made progress, we must do more. Your support will push us forward to achieving this year’s goals. In Truth, We Must support activists in the field who protest on behalf of justice, drive policy that can lead to lasting change, promote education “from the people to the people,” and repair harms done.

                                        PROTEST | POLICY | EDUCATION | REPAIR

We challenge ourselves to match a generous donation of $25,000. With collective support, these are the commitments we are making now. Help us meet our goal by August 9th. In Truth, We Must.

With Peace & in Solidarity,
