The 2020 Anthony Jackson Memorial Scholarship

My name is Janice L. Jackson. I live in St. Louis, MO.  My son's name was Anthony Jerome Jackson.  On Tuesday October 17, 2017 my son was murdered 5 days before he could enter the Fire Academy to become a Firefighter/Paramedic.  Anthony served as a Paramedic for 10 years.  During his time as a Paramedic Anthony saved the lives of drug addicted individuals with the drug Narcan.  He received 2 Clinical Save Awards for resuscitating and reviving 2 people who were clinically deceased.  Anthony assisted in a house fire in Baden, MO I found the story which included his picture in an article from the  St. Louis Post-Dispatch on November 23, 2008 tucked among his personal things after Anthony was gone.  He never told me about this.  I created The Anthony Jackson Memorial Scholarship in my son's name so that some young man or young woman could pick up where Anthony left off and finish the mission that Anthony was not allowed to complete.   This is the Second of an Annually Awarded Scholarship in the Field of Firefighting for disadvantaged economically challenged adults ages 21 and up.   Anthony was a First Responder in every sense of the word.  Anthony was a Hero.  He was known to his friends as "Action Jackson."  I am devastated by his loss.  He is truly missed.  I miss his smile, his laugh and his sense of humor.  Anthony was a beautiful spirit, a beautiful person inside and out.   Anthony was a helper, he was a caring, generous man.  You have to be that to be a First Responder.  So in his name and as his legacy I want to carry on his generous spirit and help somebody.  Anthony was 36 years old.  He was my only son and the last Jackson male in the family.  Anthony is the end of the Jackson name, the Jackson line, and the Jackson legacy.   There will be no more Jacksons.  Anthony never had the chance to marry the woman he wanted to marry and he never had the chance to become a father and have the children especially the son he so desperately wanted to have so in someways the recipients of this Scholarship are his children and in someways also the recipients of this scholarship are my sons and daughters carrying on Anthony's Legacy.   I want The 2020 Anthony Jackson Memorial Scholarship  to be available for the September 2020 class.  The scholarship is under the direction of myself Mrs. Janice L. Jackson and Chief Quinten R. Randolph of the Northeast Ambulance and Fire Protection District where Anthony served.  I awarded the first scholarship to the first recipient  Mr. Kenneth Brown, Jr. myself personally on Wednesday, November 13, 2019.  I want some else  to pick up the banner, take Anthony's place, pick up where he left off and finish the mission that Anthony was not allowed to complete.
