Special Agents David Bailey and Crystal Griner were working security detail for Majority Whip Steve Scalise on the morning of June 14, 2017, when a gunman opened fire at a practice leading up to the annual Congressional Charity Baseball Game. Agents Bailey and Griner's swift, brave actions saved so many lives on the baseball field that day. Agents Bailey and Griner bravely ran towards the shooter, and successfully engaged and prevented him from injuring more people. By putting their lives on the line, Agents Bailey and Griner prevented a massacre. Agent Bailey sustained injuries to his ankle when he was struck by bullet fragments during the shootout.
Agent Bailey has been placed on administrative leave due to his injuries, and during the investigation of the events of June 14, 2017. As a result of the injuries sustained, Agent Bailey has incurred financial burdens.
There are so many words to describe Agent Bailey and his actions on June 14, 2017; he is selfless, brave, and dedicated, he's an American Hero, a Warrior, and a Guardian Angel!
