“Thankful both my Girls are Alive!"

Buster and Zandra were expecting the birth of their first baby girl on April 17th. Everything was looking well at the prenatal visits and the pregnancy looked to be on track. The weekend of February 3rd, Zandra had a headache, but no cause of concern. She awoke the early morning of February 5th to let the dogs out, but shortly after, Buster heard a loud noise in the kitchen. When he walked into the kitchen, he saw Zandra laying on the floor in a puddle of blood. Zandra did not acknowledge Buster fully when he tried to talk to her so he called an ambulance. The ambulance arrived very quickly to their home and took 29 week pregnant Zandra to the emergency room. While in the ambulance, Zandra had a seizure and the EMTs administered 2 IOs to provide fluids and medication. Once Zandra was in the ER, she had another seizure. The doctor told Buster Zandra had experienced eclampsia and she needed to deliver the baby or both their lives were at stake. Eclampsia is a rare critical seizure that occurs during pregnancy that can be serious for both mother and baby, can even be fatal. Eclampsia can follow a condition of high blood pressure. Zarina Bella Rainwater was born on February 5th, weighing 3 lb, 3.6 oz and 16.14” long. She was flown flight for life to the University of Colorado NICU in Aurora while Zandra was in Longmont United Hospital for a week following delivery. Zandra was in ICU and the birthing center during that time before being released. At this time, both mother and daughter are doing great. Zarina is now 4 lbs, 2 oz and is progressing very well according to the NICU doctors and nurses. During this difficult time, family and friends have asked the Rainwater family how they can contribute. We have decided to create the go fund me account to assist with incoming medical bills and travel expenses. Buster and Zandra would like to thank everyone that has visited, assisted with their dogs and home, provided food, cleaning supplies, gifts, and gift cards. They are very fortunate to be all together and they are looking forward to bringing Zarina home to Longmont.
