Thai Huynh Cancer Fund

Donation protected

This fund is to support the Huynh Family following Thai's recent cancer diagnosis.

Thai and Joli met in 1995 in General Chemistry class at New River Community College. Following a long courtship, they were married in 2002. Today, Joli serves as the Graduate Program Coordinator for the Department of Chemistry at Virginia Tech.

Thai's initial attraction to chemistry transitioned into a love of cooking. He now serves as the Head Teppanyaki Chef at Virginia Tech (at a restaurant called Origami in Turner Place). However, Thai's true passion lies in working and serving the students of Virginia Tech. He is a Hokie through and through–it is not uncommon for students to bring their parents to visit Thai, and for students to insist on visiting his restaurant for a meal before leaving or returning from any break. He is a beloved part of the VT community.

In late 2018, Thai was diagnosed with rectal cancer. Over the past several months, the cancer has metastasized to other organs in Thai's body. He will undergo an emergency surgery on November 26th in an effort to relieve some significant pain he has been enduring. His surgery and other procedures will be conducted at UVA University Hospital in Charlottesville.

We are raising funds to help offset the mounting travel, lodging, and other expenses the Huynh family is facing. Please share your story and words of encouragement for Thai. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
