Pat Stanton funds for funeral, etc.

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Karen Schmid. I am the sister to Terrea Stanton who is married to my brother in law Patrick J. Stanton.

I am setting this page up to help my sister pay mostly for funeral expenses, medical bills and also to help the family pay for bills for a month or two till my sister Terrea can get the family finances figured out.

My sister's family has no savings, no life insurance, and lives paycheck to paycheck. Finances are very tight for the family. The family can’t afford to pay for a funeral and have gotten behind on some bills.

Patrick J. Stanton born August 16, 1960 in Binghamton New York and grew up in Greene New York on North Chenango Street. He’s the son of Ray and Roberta Stanton. He has two brothers Daniel (Joan) Stanton and Michael (Becky) Stanton and one sister Julie (Mike) Rinella. Pat has been married to Terrea (Hughes) Stanton since June 26, 1999. They have four grown children Andrew Hughes, Patrick C. Stanton, Amber Stanton, & Eric Stanton. and a 14 year old son Nicholas Stanton at home plus several grandchildren.

He worked for Raymonds in Greene New York from 1980-1999. He worked at Honda (ELP) in East Liberty, Ohio from 1999-2001 and then He then worked at Honda Transmission (HTM) in Russell’s Point, Ohio from 2001-2013.

In February 2013 Pat was losing his balance at work and they sent him home. They saw many Doctors before they diagnosed him with an unspecified Muscular Dystrophy. Pat’s youngest son Nicholas who is 14 years old also has the unspecified Muscular Dystrophy. Many genetic tests and a biopsy have been done on Pat and to this day no permanent diagnosis/prognosis has been made. Nicholas will continue to see the Muscular Dystrophy Dr.’s and hopefully will get a diagnosis/prognosis in the near future.

A saliva test was done on family members and Pat and Nicholas tested positive for a TCN gene that affects the heart. Pat and Nicholas have an appointment in April to see the genetic counselor to discuss the results.

On January 2, 2018 Pat woke up with his legs and feet swollen really bad. They went to the Emergency Room and the did a Chest X-Ray and Doppler and said there was no blood clots. They sent Pat home telling him to follow up with his Family Dr. in a couple days. On Friday January 5, 2018 Pat and Terrea went to a follow up appointment with Pat’s family Dr. and he said it was Congestive Heart Failure right off the bat. Pat was admitted to a hospital in Columbus, Ohio and through tests they found out that his heart is working at 20%. Pat’s Heart is pumping very poorly. His heart is very weak. They started him on meds to try and get his heart stronger. Pat spent four days in the hospital. He left the hospital wearing a Life Vest (outside defibrillator) because he is at risk for SCD (Sudden Cardiac Death). His prognosis was he was given a year at best at that time.

They were home a little over a month and on Sunday February 11, 2018 Pat said he was having trouble breathing so a Squad was called and he was taken to the local hospital. They said the blood test showed there was blood clots and pneumonia. He was transferred to a hospital in Columbus Ohio and after doing there tests they confirmed Pat had blood clots in his right leg above and below the knee plus big and small blood clots in his lungs and a blood clot in his heart. They said Pat didn’t have pneumonia. The echo showed his heart hasn’t gotten any better in the last month.  It’s still at 20%. The Dr.’s said there isn’t any more they can do for Pat and the hospital got Pat set up on Hospice. He was sent home from the hospital on Hospice on Wednesday February 14, 2018.

Pat has decided that he wants no Life support, no CPR or an intervention to bring him back if his heart stops. He wants no feeding tubes. He has a DNRCC Order. He wants to be comfortable at home with his family & Friends.

Hospice will keep him comfortable and allow him to be at home with his family and friends. Hospice will keep Pat from going in and out of the Hospital’s.

Pat has been on SSI Disability since 2013 because he was unable to work due to the Muscular Dystrophy.

Pat and Terrea Stanton have a 14 year old son at home.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
