Hello family and friends!
As many of you know, I have been volunteering on an annual medical mission trip to the Dominican Republic for many years. I attended in high school as a translator, last year as a pre-medical student, and in March of this year I will be attending as a first-year medical student. The work this organization does is truly amazing and one of the main reasons I became passionate about medicine. Our long-term goal is to offer sustainable and accessible healthcare to the people of the Dominican Republic; and our short-term goal is to use the collective knowledge of doctors, medical students, and volunteers, to focus on the health needs of underserved communities.
Each year we set up full-scale working clinics at local schools and churches in remote villages of the Dominican Republic. We provide healthcare to over 1500 patients in ophthalmology, general medicine, pediatrics, OB/GYN, cardiology, orthopedics, dentistry, and dermatology.
The money I raise will be going towards medications and medical equipment that are essential to providing the best care we can give these patients. We rely on private donations to keep the mission funded, and it would mean so much if you could all continue to support me and this organization as I begin my medical career.
