Texas Tailblazers: Pitbull Project
Your initial question is probably ‘Why only Pitbulls?’ . This rescue is NOT focused on only helping one breed of dogs we are focused on helping those who are in need of rescue and rehabilitation. Currently, our focus is to help Sabrina- who happens to be a Pitbull! She is a young, ambitious, sweet girl who needs a second chance at a healthy life. This little lady has not had the best of luck, the first people in her life failed her....miserably.
Sabrina was picked up by a local rescue from a high kill shelter with what appeared to be a deformity. After being fostered by a loving furmama, she was taken out to Austin Veterinary Emergency Specialists- AVES and seen by Dr. Hulse. In case you didn’t know Dr. Hulse is a very talented and renowned orthopedic surgeon!!! Yes, we got lucky getting him! It was determined that what was originally thought to be a deformity was actually an old injury that went untreated. We were so sad and completely appalled that someone would leave an animals in such a state.
It is assumed that she was probably hit by a car and it left her front leg broken in such a way that she will never regain mobility. She was essentially forced to deal with the pain of a broken leg with no medical assistance, so sad. Sabrina is now a tripawd, she relies solely on the use of her back legs and her front good leg. Her front leg was not the only part of her that was injured- her hips are in bad shape. She is right now moving around with bone touching bone- an impingement that is excruciatingly painful.
In an effort to give this girl her best chance at life she will need a hip replacement surgery. Dr. Hulse has evaluated her and determined that she is a good candidate for the surgery. Now all we need to do is find the money to help this little lady have a better chance at life- she is only 3 years old! She deserves it. You can help us give her a chance! We can make things right for this little angel and help her to one day find her furever home.
