The Smith's Are Adopting!!!

We are Tyler & Elisabeth Smith, and we are adopting!

 

Our Story: 
We were married in 2012.  From the early days of our marriage we knew we wanted to adopt someday, but we did not realize it would be the only means for us to build a family. Over the last few years of trying to conceive on our own, we have faced the heartache and disappointment of not being successful. However, through this process we have come to firmly believe that it is more important to us to have a family than to make a family.  More than anything we want be parents - to love, nurture, cherish, and guide a child. We recently stepped out on the journey of adoption and began working on our home study and contacted an adoption attorney.

 

Where We Are Now:

Things have progressed much more swiftly than we could have ever anticipated, and our lawyer recently contacted us with an opportunity to adopt a little one due May 23rd!  Our profile was presented to the birthmother, and she chose us!  Although this process is happening quickly, in many ways after years of trying to grow our family, we feel like this has been a long time coming. 

 

How You Can Help:

1.      Pray!  

·      Pray for us as we prepare our home for this little one. 

·      Pray for the birthmother as she has entered the last trimester.  We have traveled to meet her and hope to do so a few more times before the birth. We desire to be an encouragement to her and show her the love of Christ!

·      Pray for us – that our hearts will be stayed on the Lord and our trust will continue to be in Him.  He has led us so lovingly and faithfully thus far! We are grateful!

·      Pray for the provision of funds to complete our adoption.  To date, we have spent almost $10,000 and anticipate costs of an additional $25,000 to come.  This includes travel expenses, birthmother expenses, attorney fees, home study expenses, etc.  We are taking a step of faith and making our need known, trusting that God will provide as He sees fit. 

 

2.     Give!

It is very a humbling thing to admit we are in need, but we know we serve a God who provides and who uses the generosity of people to be a blessing.  We understand we are asking you to give and sacrifice for our family.  We do not take that lightly. If you feel led to give, we will be immensely grateful.  Any amount of donation will go a long way.

 

3.     Share!

While we are excited and eagerly anticipating meeting our child in just a few short weeks, we are also nervous and overwhelmed – like any soon to be parents!  But more than anything, we are thrilled and amazed at how God has written our story so far – how He has led and provided.  We look forward to sharing His plan and wonderful story with our child.  We cannot wait to share with them how he or she was brought into our family because our God is an amazing God!  You will be a part of that story.
