Teodora, Kalina and Dilyana are 5-year-old triplets. They have been fighters since their birth. Born 10 weeks premature, they had to spend 41 days in ICN (intensive care nursery) and 9 days with mechanical ventilator. Shortly after they were born, Teodora and Dilyana were diagnosed with cerebral palsy (CP). Teodora has spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy and Dilyana has spastic diplegia cerebral palsy.
Since our insurance doesn’t cover it, for five years now we have been paying for a private physiotherapist who is visiting and working with the girls at home. After many years of special care, therapy and surgeries in private clinics we achieved big improvement with Dilyana and she was able to make her first steps, but because of her CP she developed hip disorder. Teodora is able to walk only with a special walker.
The procedures and therapies in a special private clinic makes it possible for the girls to significantly improve their walking. After only one course of treatment and physiotherapy in the clinic, Teodora is able to sit on her own for almost a minute, which is a huge success. Both girls are very smart and intelligent which helps a lot in their physical development.
The price of $5,000 for a two-week course of therapy and procedures at the clinic (for both of the girls) is unaffordable for us. The results from the one visit that we were able to afford gives us hope that if we could do at least four more courses, Teodora will finally start walking on her own. These visits to the clinic could also help Dilyana and save her from a complicated hip surgery. Time is very crucial for both of them and the sooner we can start the therapy in the clinic the bigger their chances of improvement will be.
