Terry's CANCER TREATMENT

20 years ago our mother was diagnosed with a non-malignant tumor in her right breast, it was caught in time and removed. We have been worry free, there was no cancer and she has been able to live an amazing life since, watching her children (at that time 9 & 10) become adults, and enjoying her grandchildren. A few years back she was diagnosed with “diverticular disease", which is an intestinal disorders. Since she has been diagnosed with this disease she has visited the hospital too many times to count, and at times is limited to only eat ‘Gerber’ and ‘baby cereal’ for weeks.  And now we face a new challenge.  Cancer!  She noticed another lump on the same breast, and after a Biopsy was done she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, invasive ductal carcinoma when the cancer has “invaded” or spread to the surrounding breast tissues. Invasive ductal carcinoma can spread to the lymph nodes and possibly to other areas of the body.Our fight to beat this cancer has begun, while my mom also continues her treatment for diverticulitis. Having to not only treat one disease but now to BEAT BREAST CANCER, has taken a toll on her physically, emotionally and financially. There are many appointments coming up co-pay here, co-insurance there, deductible, medication not covered (and if covered at a certain percentage only). The worry and concern of being able to pay the medical expenses is becoming a reality as the appointments get closer, the surgery date is coming up, and the radiation treatment after that, followed by chemo. We want to ensure our mom gets all her treatment at the right time, without any delay due to the insurance not covering it.
