Terry’s Battle

In August 2016, our family was delivered news that no one should ever received. At the age of 59, my dad (a great friend, uncle, brother and love) was diagnosed with duadnam cancer. His tumor was located near his stomach, right on the valve that allows food to exit the stomach and be digested. After enduring an 11+ hour surgery, he was in the clear. Only to then be diagnosed with sepsis and live in quarantine for days. Being the strong and powerful man that he is, he muscled through the trenches and got healthier, but don’t think this road was paved with daisies and sunshine. He lived with drains sticking out of his stomach, had a feeding tube and overall no energy to do much. He endured months of chemotherapy and even was having treatments during Taryn + Alex’s wedding in April 2017. After his last doctors visit and treatment in June, he was finally in remission.

Fast forward to September 2017 - Terry has been experiencing severe back pain for months that doesn’t allow him to sleep comfortably. He has been managing the pain but was seeking answers. In November 2017, just days before his 60th birthday (which we threw him an amazing surprise party surrounded my loved ones and friends) he found out that the source for his pain was a mass near his spine. At the one we didn’t know what it was, nor did the doctors. On December 20, he received a call from his doctor to discuss the biopsy results. It’s cancer. Cancer. Again. This time - not operable due to its location but hopefully to be controlled with radiation treatment. He will be enduring radiation 5 times a week for 5 weeks, and also a few chemotherapy treatments.

During this time, I wanted to raise money to assist with their travel needs, and anything else they need to get through treatments and appointments. Since he will be unable to fix leaky faucets or frozen pipes this winter, he can use all the help he can get!

The funds raised from this will not only benefit my father and his cancer journey, but I’ve decided to give back as well. A portion of funds will be donated to the American Cancer Society, and the Animal Cancer Foundation (because we all know his love for Miss Bella!)

Thank you all in advance for your support and generosity. No amount is too little.

Happy Holidays to all our friends and family!
