Terry Steen Medical (Accident) Relief Fund

Donation protected
On August 1st, Terry Steen was involved in a fireworks explosion that malfunctioned where he sustained life threating injuries to his left leg. Here is a good man that simply needs our help through a rough spot in his life.  He’s also a guy that has touched a lot of lives in his own pursuit of a good life.  He would feed you if he knew you were hungry, give you his coat if he thought you were cold.  He also knew  in his heart that he would be there for whomever needed him, no matter what....  We know what lies ahead for him, lots of medical bills that will be astronomical,  which no one can afford. All of us friends and family can relate to some type of hardship we have personally encountered  in our lives but still be able to  go out and earn a living. Terry is not going to be able to be that person for a long time, as doctors are doing everything they can to save his leg. All we are asking is, if  by chance... you can donate to this fund for Terry that we have created.  It will go to medical expenses, equipment he'll need when he returns home, future medical, rehab, etc.   We can't imagine the expense this will create and he won't be able to do his carpentry jobs anymore for extra income, just for a normal life to survive in todays world. Terry's journey back to normalcy will be a long road with lots of rehab and dedication to get back to the Terry that everyone knows.   As you read this, keep in mind how much this guy always expressed how much he appreciated you being there with him, no matter if you were working with him,  fishing with him, at the ball park when his boys were young, watching NFL football on Sundays, camping, spending time on the water,  he had your back, guaranteed!!! Within the first seven hours after the accident,  Terry was in three different hospitals.  First, by ambulance to Freeman in Joplin and then two life-flights,  one to Springfield and  then to the University of Columbia.  He lost an enormous amount of blood from the explosion and trauma,  each hospital knew he needed the best care.  Terry is now in Columbia, up against multi surgeries and possibly weeks in the hospital.  The explosion has done excessive damage to his leg and femur and they cannot move forward until  all the debris is removed.  They have placed temporary pins in his shattered femur until the risk of infection is eliminated.   We are very blessed we still have him!!!!   From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU to all the medical responders that helped that night.  Along with Kristi, his girlfriend and other friends that acted quickly to save him from bleeding to death, before the ambulance arrived at the scene. Terry retired two years ago from the Joplin Fire Department with 21 years of service.  He spent most of his career at Station #2, retiring as the station’s Captain.  He was very dedicated to the City of Joplin Fire and served as President of his local Firefighters Association Union, IAFF 59 for six years as well as holding the position of secretary.  He was a very dedicated fireman and was on the ground running to save many lives after the historic tornado that ripped through Joplin in 2011. Please keep Terry, in your thought & prayers,  on his journey of recovering and healing.                                                                          It's definitely true "A Persons’s Life Can Change in a Split Second.” This fundraiser is being put together by his family & friends. Please share and post on your FB page, thank you so much!
