Terry Murphy's Accident recovery

Donation protected

Anyone who knows Terry Murphy knows he loves to ski, loves his family and friends, loves to talk over coffee and that he will always do anything to help anyone in need. Right now, Terry is the one in need.

On December 4th, Terry was building a friend's house in Wilmington, NY.  He was on a scaffold when a 300lbs beam rolled loose and he had to jump backward to avoid being crushed. Though he's Superman to many of us, he lacks the ability to fly and serious damage was done. Both bones in his lower leg were shattered and his arm was badly broken at the elbow.

Terry has already had 1 surgery to stabilize his leg but at least 2-3 more surgeries will follow in the coming months. He will not be able to work at Whiteface or in construction for several months as he slowly recovers. Terry will need extensive tests, treatments, surgeries, physical therapy, and medical supplies. Mary has had to stop working to care for Terry. With already limited resources, their bills have begun mounting. They need help paying their mortgage and car payments until Terry is back on his feet and Mary can go back to work.

Right now, Terry is in need of a high-back wheelchair with a left leg lift.  He is suffering from extreme muscle cramps and needs to be able to change positions. Mary will need help transferring Terry and transporting him to appointments. But they also will need companionship and  support over the coming months.

Terry is the type of guy who was made for the service industry—he loves everybody. He strives to make every client happy. Every kid have a great day on the mountain. I’ve literally seen him give the coat off his back to a cold child on a ski-lift on a 10degree day. He is completely kind, thoughtful and selfless. He will absolutely hate that I’m posting this campaign. Too bad. He would have already have done it for me.

Mary and Terry love their community and are so grateful to have had the support of their friends over the past weeks. They are one of those couples that will pay the kindness you show them forward and right now they can use any kindness you can spare.
