Terry Deyo

Our father Terry Deyo, Lance Corporal E-3 enlisted in Michigan and then headed to Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.  Terry is a wonderful father, grandfather, and a best friend to many.  He is the most kind-hearted, and inspiring individual.  If you’ve met him, you won’t forget him.  Terry has been in the Insurance Industry since 1974 in Houston, Texas.  As many of his friends and colleagues know Terry has owned two insurance agencies in Houston.  He has given so much to his family, community, and friends and has touched the lives of many people.  Over the last several months Terry has encountered some medical issues that have limited his abilities to walk, work, and properly care for himself, at least for now.  He needs some help to continue his occupational therapy, physical therapy, and overall care at Brookdale.  He deserves to live a long healthy life, and we know he would never ask for help, so we are doing on his behalf. 

Early December Terry was taken by ambulance to First Texas Hospital. He was found to be septic with aspiration pneumonia as primary diagnosis. He then was approved for discharge to Brookdale but within 2 days he was rushed to Methodist Willowbrook hospital ICU, requiring Intubation and mechanical ventilation due to acute respiratory failure with secondary diagnosis of acute Pulmonary Embolus.  He then was transferred to Kindred Hospital and finally moved to Brookdale skilled nursing.  Terry has been receiving PT/OT for muscle weakness with abnormal gait and atrophy.  Terry as you all know is the most optimistic person and we are hopeful over a period of time with the proper care that he will recover. 

That’s where this GoFundMe comes in!  Terry has exhausted his financial resources over the last several years, including pulling out all the equity in his home. Fortunately, he has long term care insurance, but the waiting period takes several months.  Even with that insurance not everything is covered. Jackie and I, and a few close friends have been supporting him over the last few months to the extent we are able, but the medical costs are tremendous. He is presently at Brookdale Willowbrook Place Memory Care LTC facility Houston TX 77070 Apt. #108.  Please stop by or drop him a note.

Everyone who knows Terry knows that he has always been generous to his family and friends. Many would say “generous to a fault”. If you’ve ever had lunch with him, you know he was the first to grab the check.  If you had a business, he was the one that thought of ways to refer his contacts or friends to help you. If you had a charity, he was one of the first to write a check.  That is part of the reason he is in the financial situation he finds himself in now.
