Aundrea Johnston (Wife) :
" This isn't where the story begins or ends. It is the chapter where I tell you about some extraordinary people. On Monday afternoon, my husband and stepson were hit head on by a sleeping driver while driving back from Portland on hwy 26. In a single moment, our lives changed...this truly was truly a life or death event. Kris had to pull himself from the front of the truck all the way to the back, knowing that if he didn't get help, his son would die. This is the beginning of a miraculous story where strangers would soon become our guardian angels. My husband was pulled from the truck by witnesses and dragged to a safe distance. The truck was in flames and these amazing people still didn't give up to get our boy out. By the time the first responders got there, the entire truck was engulfed in flames. These were people with families of our own who put their own lives at risk to help! Risking harm or possible death themselves, they didn't give up.
(How do you thank someone for that. It doesn't seem big enough. How do you tell them what they did for you and your family? I will probably will never find the right words)
With Eric life flighted along one of the other vehicles passengers and Kris having to go through physical therapy, our bills are devastating. We just got the news that our insurance has a cap.
It is not just my story, or my husband's or Eric's, it is bigger than that. This is our story. I hope that you will choose to tell it!! We are grateful as well to the fire department, ambulance, police officers, helicopter pilots, doctors and surgeons, who have kept both of them here with us. Please share our story, tell it and allow others to be inspired. The ordinary doing the extraordinary!! Love you all and from the bottom of my heart and soul, thank you."
