Terri Leinneweber Memorial Fund

Tax deductible
As most of you know one of our dearest members, Terri Leinneweber, passed away suddenly.  Now that more details are known I want to pass on the information to you and tell you how you can help the birds that are left behind.  The most immediate need is for the electric to be paid.  The bill is past due and the electric will be shutoff today!   The total is $344.26 and must be paid today.

Terri was a very proud woman and nobody knew the many sacrifices that she made for her animals.  She never let on, even to her closest friends, that she was suffering and even in the hospital recently.  The person that became closest to Terri over the years is her next door neighbor, Lucy.  Just so happens that Lucy is an RN.  Terri trusted Lucy so much that she gave her medical power of attorney a couple weeks ago.  Lucy was able to get Terri the in-home health care she needed twice a week, the prescriptions filled, meals and oxygen she needed.  Terri was also in a wheelchair because she was so weak and couldn’t get around on her own.  Everyone thought that she would get better, but as we all know now that didn’t happen and she passed away at home.

Lucy was the one that found her.  Terri had no family.  She lived alone.  There is a distant cousin, but calls to that person have gone unanswered.  An emergency court order was issued to allow Lucy to have control over Terri’s home in order to have the parrots cared for.  Lucy is willing to provide for the daily care of the parrots and keep them in Terri’s home until I can arrange transportation for them to come here.  At least the parrots all know Lucy and her husband, so they are comfortable with them providing that care.  But, the ultimate goal is to remove the parrots and provide them with safe sanctuary together.

Here is why this is so important.  One of Terri’s special sacrifices was that all the birds either have ABV/PPD or have been exposed to it.  Her flock was on “lock down” and she knew that her birds could not coexist with any other birds.  Her desire was to keep them together so they could live together in a flock where they would be safe.  Terri thought she’d outlive her birds, but that didn’t happen.  Lucy is scouring the home and Terri’s computer in an attempt to find some sort of Last Will and Testament, but it is highly doubtful that one exists.  Until the birds can be moved we need to keep the electric on.  I am working with Lucy to try and figure out how to best care for Terri’s birds until they can be transported.

If you would like to help with the cost for the electricity and for the transportation of the birds please consider a donation to the GoFundMe account.
