Terin's cancer fund

Terin was in an auto accident this Spring, and subsequent medical exams ended up revealing that on top of a bad case of whiplash, she also had an aggressive stage 3 invasive breast cancer, which has already spread to multiple lymph nodes.

She has been trying to keep working through the pain of the whiplash injury and the stress of this diagnosis (& it's battery of tests ), but the physical demands of her job as an organic landscape gardener are proving too strenuous to keep up with, especially now as treatments begin. Terin's cancer is fast growing and has the HER2 positive gene. That makes it an aggressive cancer, but it also serves as a genetic marker that makes it a target for chemotherapy. We are EXTREMELY fortunate that insurance will cover these costly medical treatments, but she won't be able to keep working such a physical job or earn an income while undergoing an intense, year-long course of chemotherapy, invasive surgery and radiation.

As some of you may know, Terin is not a huge fan of the conventional medical system, and is feeling pretty beaten down at the prospect of chemo especially. We would love to be able to explore preventing/easing side effects with supplements and treatments not covered by insurance, such as naturopathy, acupuncture, and myofascial release. Unfortunately since all of our disposable income has been slowly going into repairs on the home we bought 7 years ago (including Terin taking time off work last summer to replace our entire plumbing system), money is a huge stress right now.

Terin has been a caregiver and ally to many friends through their battles with cancer and other illness, and is blessed to now be on the receiving end of that same support (even though she's stubbornly independent and it's hard for her to accept) We are so grateful for all the recommendations for care, info about resources, and offers of rides, food, and emotional support we've received from friends and family. We love you all! It's very difficult for us to ask for financial help, but people have been asking if there's a Go Fund Me, so here it is! We appreciate ANY funds you can donate to help cover supplemental treatments and living expenses while Terin is unable to work (and we absolutely don't want anyone to feel pressured to donate).

Thank you everyone for all the support, in EVERY form that takes! Gen and Terin (& Ocho)
