Teresa Potter Memorial Scholarship

Donation protected
I always told my mom that on my birthday she is the one that should be celebrated.  The day I was born I didn't do any of the heavy lifting.  The only thing that my birthday means to me at this point in my life is that I've managed to win the lottery of making it antoher trip around the sun.

Just a few weeks before my mom passed our community blessed us by having a benefit for our family.  The turnout was overwhelming.  We were humbled and amazed at how our community had rallied around our family not only during that single event, but long before and even after.  When Teresa passed Jason Aanenson, her boss for over a decade, did something that I and my family was incredibly humbled by.  He created a Teresa Potter Memorial Scholarship that he had given to my brother, Cole.  This is something that my dad, Kim, had said would be a meaningful thing to keep going.  I would like to continue doing this annually in memory of Teresa.

Those of you that know my mom well saw her heart for others.  Little do many of you know, because she was always very sneaky about this, is that she would find people to bless without them knowing.  Whether it was some money dropped in their mailbox, a meaningful or encouraging gift to lift someone's spirits, or the intangible and unseen petitions she made on their behalf in prayer.

To keep up the spirit of giving and being a blessing to someone as well as continuing the giving spirit that my mom possessed I would like to raise money to give to a high school senior who is going to attend a 4 year university or a technical program.  The requirements to receive this money have not yet been established, but will be greatly dileberated over.  I am committing $500 of my own money to this scholarship and hope to raise an additional $2,500 for someone who has not only earned the opportuntiy better themselves, but be able to do exactly what our community has done for us and bless someone in need.
