The Nest at TGY: Serving our Youth

Donation protected
During the month of October, we are celebrating Tenth Gate’s 10th anniversary. It’s an exciting time for us in many ways. Not only are we taking the time to acknowledge our accomplishments these past 10 years, but more importantly we’re also reflecting on our future.

I have felt for a long while that  we were underserving a very important segment of our community...our youth. So, during this anniversary month, I’m happy and excited to announce that we are expanding our programming to serve the needs of the younger people in our community... children, teens, young adults as well as a community of individuals with diverse abilities that require more inclusive programming addressing their special needs.

In order to do this, we’ve leased an additional space, located behind our main building. It’s a beautiful 800 square foot room with lots of natural light, and it already feels very much like an extension of our beautiful center. It has that peaceful energy that Tenth Gate is known for.  We have recently. named this new space, "The Nest at Tenth Gate."

We’ve hired a program director, Kim Ferrara, who has had great success working creatively with several age groups. (See her video above) We are currently in the process of preparing the space, and building a program schedule so that we may open the doors to the Nest in January of 2019. We are dedicating this space and the programming in memory of Nathan Bruno, a young man who left this earth too soon.

Although this expansion is the next logical step for us, it happened quickly and was not planned as far in advance as both Kim and I would have liked. We have done our due diligence on paper and see the potential for a sustainable program for our youth, but funding will be required to get this project off the ground in the right way.

This is the first time we have ever actively fundraised for Tenth Gate. We feel in order to pull together everything we need for materials, equipment, training, marketing, signage and building prep, that we will need some financial assistance. So we are reaching out to you, asking if you can help us fund this important endeavor for our youth. We are so grateful for whatever support you can provide as we work together to help our young people become their best selves.

With gratitude,
