Janet and I have been sponsoring a Fundraising Tennis Tournament at Edgewater in Panama City Beach called the "Fall Brawl" for several years. The tournament was scheduled for this next weekend and of course it has been cancelled. "Lucky Pennies" fundraiser was started by the tennis pro's children 10 years ago to help people that have been victims of earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes and other natural disasters. Please see below for more information. Donavan September is the pro from Cape Town SA and played IFT and APT while going to college in the states. We met Donavan in 2012 while on vacation in Panama City Beach. We make sure to see him at least once a year. He is a great father of three, husband and friend. He and his family are safe and well and they are fortunate because they live west of PCB. However, just 9 miles east looks like a war zone. I spoke to him this morning and he's borrowing a trailer and driving over 100 miles to buy supplies like diapers, formula, dry foods etc, to bring back to the victims of Michael. He told me that most of the folks don't have electricity, clean water, gasoline and there are long lines at the few stores that are open. He knew of two restaurants that were open with a very limited menu. Can you imagine what that would be like?
We are trying to raise as much money as possible to send to Donavan to help buy more needed supplies and necessities.
Please take a minute and click on the GoFundMe link below. Any donation will help and be more than welcomed.
Thank you for your time and assistance.
About Lucky Pennies:
Lucky Pennies was started by Habib September when he was six years old. He believes each of us can make a difference in the lives of others. Lucky Pennies has provided tennis shoes for orphans in Namibia Africa, Medical supplies to the victims in Haiti, Lollipops and treats to orphans in Pakistan and toothbrushes and coloring sets to the tornado victims in Alabama. The Mayor of Panama City Beach proclaimed June 23rd as Habib September Day due to his efforts of helping the victims of the 2011 tornado outbreak in Alabama.
