COVID-19 has been difficult on everyone. My husband and I have both been unemployed from the outset of the pandemic 4 months ago.
We have both applied to 100s of jobs in the last 4 months, and he is the only one to have had an interview (unfortunately the job offer he received from the interview turned out to be illegitimate).
He has finally convinced me to reach out and ask for help. This is difficult for me as I consider myself an independent, dedicated and hard working woman.
About ME: I love food. I love feeding people. I believe food can be healing when it is more than just processed junk and artificial flavors. My dream for years has been to open my own restaurant where I can care for my community through the healthy traditional Mexican fare that I was raised on, and would offer to my clientele.
What I have done so far: My husband and I have been saving for years. I finally registered a business name in Ontario Canada last year, "Tenaz by Chef Celia." I began researching various methods of getting my business started, and I also began studying bookkeeping and business planning in 2019 so that I would be ready to launch by the end of 2020.
Then the pandemic left both my husband and me unemployed in a job market so competitive we have been unable to find an opportunity to get back on our feet. The savings we had set aside have dwindled by almost half, and with it my dream of operating my own business has never seemed further from my grasp.
What I am asking for: I am ready to get to work, but need the upfront capital to get started. My husband and I have no collateral to secure the right business loans, and as previously noted, our savings have begun to dry up. If we can successfully raise enough capital with this campaign I intend to buy my first food truck, secure the appropriate licensing, and get cooking!
