Ten Summits Challenge/Narrelle Joy

WHAT:  In March 2018 myself and 17 others will be climbing the ten highest peaks in Australia, over five days, to raise money for the MJD foundation via the Ten Summits Challenge.  You can find out more about the challenge here on the official website: http://www.tensummitschallenge.com/about.html

WHY:  Not too long ago a friend of ours discovered she had inherited a degenerative gene, SCA 3 - also refered to as Machado-Joseph Disease (MJD). Haven't heard of it? Neither had I before we'd come to know Bec. Turns out not many people at all know much about it. Which is one of the reasons Bec decided to organise this challenge - to raise much needed awareness for MJD and people with disabilities, as well as raising money for research and support programs. 

One of the ways I've been raising funds and support, as a photographer, is by offering a limited number of portrait sessions as silent auctions.  There will be several other opportunities (some perhaps as amusing as they are challenging, on my part) to donate over the course of the coming weeks. Keep an eye out for more information.

And, of course, you're always welcome to make a donation in the form of sponsorship, a few ideas being:

$75 - $1 per kilometres hiked
$217.88 - $0.01cent per metre of the combined height of the peaks
$1 - 100 per peak (10 peaks)

Please feel free to simply give what you can, and be assured that 100% of the donations will go to the MJD Foundation for research into a cure and support programs.  You can find out more about the MJD Foundation here: http://mjd.org.au
