Why Do What We Do?

During an unexpected disaster like COVID-19, those who have the least resources get hurt the most; these girls need our support now more than ever. Sprott Social Impact club is committed to tackling the issue by providing resources like face masks and a personal hygiene kit to ease the back-to-school transition for 140 girls.

Nelson Mandela tells us, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." Unfortunately, Longido, Tanzania, the impoverished community in the country still face difficulties accessing education.

 SSIC, in partnership with TEMBO, wants to prevent child marriages. This is because teen girls in Longido are often identified as the most vulnerable group when it comes to child marriage. They are often married at the age of 13 due to having limited or no opportunities for education. 

Child marriage is real, and in partnership with TEMBO, SSIC plans to work consistently to prevent child marriages. Our SSIC youth consultant had an opportunity to work with Tanzania Education and Micro Business ( TEMBO) organization. Here is what she had to say, "It changed the way I see the world. I saw a group of people who struggle with all the things we deemed as basic human rights in this part of the world, and yet they are battling for themselves to earn those every day".

 
SSIC's vision is "To ensure every individual is a contributing member of the society, by making access to education a right rather than a privilege."
