Story School Charity Auction

What Is The Story School:

If you have never heard of The Story School before...prepare for an adventure. We bring interactive, immersive, and educational adventures to life. Students assume the mantle of a hero dressing the part and fighting the forces of evil (our wonderful staff) with foam swords and NERF-blasters in hand solving STEAM-based puzzles and building their social confidence through teamwork and roleplay. It is a place where kids of all ages can become heroes; where we can encourage learning, courage, and compassion through an immersive storytelling experience; where the heroes have just as much control over their world as the gamemasters who create them; and where anyone inspired by stories can find your community.

What is Our Mission:

In partnership with Guardian Adventures, we have brought these stories to life since 2013 delivering epic legends through our Wizards & Warriors camp (copyright Guard Up, Inc.) and our year-round live-action roleplay classes. Our mission is to promote story-based education for students through summer camps, events, workshops, and other outreach activities. We provide scholarships for students pursuing story-based education and work to develop curriculum and training that can be implemented by others.

Why Do We Need Your Help:

The pandemic has affected our organization as it has many others. During the summer of 2020, we had to close our physical doors but converted our programs into a digital medium. We continued to serve our community in every way that we could. During the 2021 season, we had to adapt once more and poured every resource we had into reopening our live programs safely for our heroes. Due to the incredible diligence and talents of our team, we were able to operate our 2021 summer camps with no cases of COVID and have been running our live programs at our new facility since June.

As a non-profit, we owe our entire existence to the community we serve and the people who believe in us. And with children all over the world still recovering from the degradation of social skills and renewed anxiety and stresses, it is more important than ever to have a safe and nurturing home for them to escape to and recover. We know we have been that home for hundreds if not thousands over the years and we will do whatever it takes to continue to keep that alive.

What Are Donations Being Used For:

We are asking for donations this year to help us remain viable. After two camp seasons under the pandemic and another one to come, we have exhausted our resources choosing to use our funding for the immediate purposes of creating a place of safety, community, learning, and entertainment for our heroes. Increased costs have included COVID precautions and testing, increased staffing, expanded scholarships, and new programming development. Donations received this month will serve to help secure our 2022 camp location, allow us to continue offering live and year-round programming, renew our scholarship fund to increase our accessibility to those that need it most, and will help retain the amazing staff that have served our heroes this past year.
