Telescope Lending Campaign

Scopes for Schools is asking for help with the ongoing task of upgrading some of our equipment used during our exciting and engaging star parties for the student communities that we serve.

These scopes are well over 10 years old and are exposed to the elements - and kids -  when in use.

Please check our facebook group for more background on our activities over the years.

About us:

We are a small group of passionate astrogeeks that love sharing astronomy, astrophotography, macro photography and lensing all things in nature. Our backgrounds are in physics, astronomy, teaching, art, STEM and programming.

Our audience: We specialize in serving under-represented groups such as girls in science, orphanages and children from low-SES backgrounds.

Our Non-profit status: "Scopes for Schools" is a registered Texas non-profit, our federal EIN number is: 82-4702252.

What we do on the regular: Besides our day jobs, we breathe new life into donated telescopes, microscopes and DSLR cameras by finding worthy schools and training teachers how to use these gifts! If you have some old gear collecting dust in the garage or if your kids have outgrown the equipment, we can find a good home for it. We are also available for scouting, church and other education events in central Texas for FREE - weather dependent of course. We have a variety of telescopes and cameras, we are skilled in telling the story of the night sky of any season, and we can certainly get nerdy and explain any of the gear we use.
