Teenage son's medical bills

In early November 2017, our then-14-year-old son was taken to the ER and hospitalized that same night. We were originally told it would only be for 3 days, but it turned into 10 days; we were fortunate he was well enough to be released the day before his 15th birthday.
Over the past 10 months, there have been 3 more ER visits and a second hospitalization - this time for 7 days; still not having a firm diagnosis on what was causing his illness, we eventually had to remove him from school and place him in an 8-week treatment program.
We've been fortunate the majority of costs have been covered by insurance, but not all of it...leaving us with more than $2,500 we owe out of pocket, and unfortunately, that does not include the 2 most recent bills for his last 2 ER visits.
We are already living paycheck to paycheck , plus we have three other teenagers to support in our blended family, so we can use all the help we can get before more bills start going to collections. Two of our four teens are turning 16 in November and it would be nice to still be able to celebrate their milestone birthdays.
