Teds life saving cancer surgery $$

We were so heartbroken when Ted was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma (tonsil cancer) last March 10th. Ted endured aggressive radiation and chemotherapy last year with very challenging side effects that are ongoing.

We were delighted in September to learn that Teds scans were clean. We were so hopeful that our experience with cancer was over and we could start 2018 fresh.

Unfortunately, follow-up routine scans in early December delivered a bombshell! We were devastated to be told that Ted's cancer had already returned and we were thrown right back into the overwhelming whirlwind of appointments and testing. We were told then by Ted's oncologist that with chemo alone Ted would have median life expectancy of 7.3 months.... so we are looking at radical surgery this coming Tues. Jan. 23rd in order to give Ted the best chance at a cure. We are blessed in so many ways that we have a wonderful team of doctors at Loyola Medical center in Chicago. It however also means added expenses, fuel for travel, hotels, more insurance co-pays, no wages, as Ted is now waiting on a fixed income until further notice.


The surgery will mean a significant hospital stay for Ted followed by a long recovery of a year or more, and probable permanent disability. Aside from the stress and logistical issues we are experiencing as a result of all of this, we are extremely reluctant to ask for help of any kind, we know however we must do so though in humility due to these difficult circumstances that we are again faced with.


We are praying for a complete healing and strength in the meantime.
