Teddy Jacobson Is In ICU

My name is Charles Jacobson and my father is world renowned pistolsmith Teddy Jacobson of Actions By 'T' (www.actionsbyt.com). My father has one of the most unique situations the doctors have ever seen and is currently in ICU at St Luke's hospital in Sugarland Tx. First let me give you a background. My father was born in Brooklyn NY in 1941. In 1959 when he was 18 he was involved in a construction accident where an 800 lb industrial air conditioning unit in a crate fell on him and crushed 6 vertebrae. The doctors at that time had no idea what to do and had him lying on a piece of plywood for months, I'm serious. The doctor told him he would never walk again but he wouldn't stand for that. A few years later he was a black belt in Go Ju Ryu and Shotokan. A few years after that, after moving to Miami-Dade, he was a police officer in the toughest part of Broward County. He was also in the Order of DeMolay from 18-21 and then became a member of the Masonic Lodge in Dade County. He rose above all odds not only to walk but to have a good life. The Jewish kid from Brooklyn met my mom, the southern Baptist from Georgia Janet Argo at a Bagel shop in Miami (it's like a movie I know but its seriously totally true). They have been together ever since and in 1978 there I was! He couldn't find anyone to work on his gun as a cop so he started doing research and learning about guns on his own, from a manual. This was way before the internet so you can imagine trying to learn to be a gunsmith from a book and 3d drawing of the inside of a gun. This man, my father, is the rain man of guns. He built a business from nothing that lasted over 40 years. He never was anything more than a one man shop as many tried but nobody has the attention to detail or God given talent to be his apprentice, not even me. Teddy is known for his brutal honesty and master craftsmanship. He is the most noble and honest person I have ever known. Fast forward to the present. Teddy is 76 and has the worst case of Fibromyalgia any Doctor has ever seen. Up until the hospital he was still walking around but with severe pain. He has an additional issues that is incredible. For years he has complained he can't eat anything and throws it all up. My dad is very healthy. He doesn't drink, smoke, do drugs, eat processed foods, or anything else unhealthy for you. Doctors for years told him they had no idea what was wrong because all his blood work and tests came back normal. In the last 9 months it's gotten worse and now he is 88 lbs. He has 10+ of the best Doctors around working on him as they all thought he had esophageal cancer but they were wrong. On top of the broken back, he has an unidentified alien fungus growing throughout his entire esophagus causing all these problems. The fungus also caused a lung infection which removed the lung lining and now fluid is building up. He got aspiration pnuemonia from throwing up and not being able to eat. He has had a chest tube put in to drain the infection and for a few days he didn't know who anyone was or what was going on. Fortunately he has regained his mental clarity and has agreed to allow me to create this GoFundMe. My mother Janet Jacobson is retired from the medical field and since my dad has been at St Luke's for a few weeks now no income except for a small social security check is coming in. I am very sad to say that Actions By 'T' is now closed forever and my dad can no longer provide a solid income. We ask for your help and prayers. This money will be used to pay the household bills while Teddy is in the hospital and make sure he has the best care possible waiting for him when he comes home. Doctors have said the fungus is able to be treated with antibiotics however the lungs need to be repaired surgically. We are still not out of the woods but very hopeful that these procedures will change everything. Unfortunately no matter what happens the best pistolsmith on the planet has shut his shop.
