Hi everyone! My name is Francis Díaz; I am from Nicaragua. Two years ago, my eldest son Leonardo (5 years old) was diagnosed with autism. For my family and me, it was something unexpected and new as we did not know anything about autism. At that time, I was told that Leonardo needed to do certain tests to confirm the diagnosis. To date, he has only been able to receive one test with a neurologist. He currently needs an evaluation with a child neurologist, an electroencephalogram, an auditory and vocal examination, all of which we have not been able to make due to our financial situation.
As some of you may know, in April 2018, Nicaragua entered into a socio-political conflict which brought much more unemployment and more poverty. During that year, my husband and I were left unemployed, suffering financial hardship and difficulties to provide for our 3-year-old child and newborn. Two years later, our country is still in crisis; the pandemic has further intensified the lack of employment and worsening our economic conditions. Despite my husband being a computing engineer and me, a business administrator, it has been very difficult to find a job.
Due to our difficult financial situation, we have not been able to afford beds for our children. My husband, children and I, we all sleep in the same bed. We have not been able to pay medical expenses and the therapies that our son needs, and we do not have an area for their educational or recreational games, that are so important for their stimulation.
To all the above, it is added that the heavy rains we have had and that had further deteriorated the wooden house and its walls causing that every time it rains the water is flooded into the house.
Our home is inherited from my grandfather; my grandfather built it 50 years ago. Since then, there has been no changes or improvements in the structure and materials. This is why when it rains, it’s even more deteriorated. Our wish is to strengthen the walls and build rooms for ourselves and our kids. At the moment, we have improvised a room in the living room to feel a little bit more protected.
We sincerely ask all of you for your help with any type of economic contribution, it’s been difficult times for my family and me, but we believe there is good-hearted people, that want to help others truly. Your contribution will have a huge impact in our lives and our living conditions.

Hola a todos, Mi nombre es Francis Díaz soy de Nicaragua; hace 2 años mi hijo mayor Leonardo de 5 años fue diagnosticado con autismo para mí y para mi familia fue algo inesperado y nuevo ya q no sabiamos nada acerca del autismo. En ese momento me dijeron que tenía que hacerle ciertos exámenes para confirmar el diagnóstico, hasta la fecha solamente le he podido realizar uno con un neurólogo. Actualmente necesita una valoración con un neurólogo pediatra, un electroencefalograma, un examen auditivo y vocal que no hemos podido costear por nuestra situación económica.
Como algunos de ustedes sabrán, en Abril del 2018 nuestro país entró en un conflicto socio político lo cual trajo mucho más desempleo y más pobreza de la que ya existía, en ese año mi esposo y yo quedamos en el desempleo con un niño de 3 años y otro recién nacido, 2 años después nuestro país sigue en crisis y la pandemia ha venido a intensificar aún más la falta de empleo y peor aún con la tragedia del Huracán ETA. Ha sido muy difícil para nosotros conseguir trabajo aún siendo profesionales.
Debido a nuestros escasos recursos económicos no hemos podido costear camas propias para nuestros hijos, dormimos 4 en una misma cama, no hemos podido pagar gastos médicos, ni las terapias que nuestro hijo necesita; no contamos con un área para su recreación ni juegos didácticos que son importantes para su estimulación.
A todo lo anterior se suma que la intensas lluvias q hemos tenido ha deteriorado aún más la casita de madera y sin paredes propias en la que vivimos por gracia de Dios, pero cada vez que llueve el agua penetra y provoca humedad en nuestro hogar, lo cual además, aumenta los mosquitos y las enfermedades.
Nuestra casita es herencia de mi abuelo, mi abuelo la construyó hace 50 años cómo pudo y desde entonces sigue con la misma estructura y material el cual se deteriora más por las lluvias, desearíamos poder levantar las paredes y construir cuartos pero no contamos con los recursos y hemos improvisado cuarto en la sala de dicha casa para poder estar un poquito más protegidos.
Le pido muy encarecidamente a todos su ayuda con un aporte económico según sus posibilidades, lo que puedan brindarnos será de gran ayuda, contarán con nuestro agradecimiento y recibirán el doble o triple de nuestro Padre Celestial que ve desde las alturas.
