Let’s make the playa little greener in 2018. Help us build the TechnoGecko , the first large-scale fully electric mutant vehicle.
Imagine a giant mutant vehicle that’s half robot, half gecko. It’s 34 feet wide, 40 feet tall, and 100 feet long.
One side is a nefarious robot with flames exploding from the tops of two dance poles. The surrounding playa is crowded with burners cheering for the dancers on stage while losing themselves to the beat.
The other side is an organic oasis cuddle puddle where burners can relax like woodland fairies and take a break from the hedonic dance party. Snuggle up, get warm, have a deep conversation, enjoy some cucumber water, or nibble on a light snack.
And Yes, you read that right… 34 feet by 40 feet by 100 feet.
How is that possible? TechnoGecko will be separated into five “modules”. Each module will be a separate electric vehicle. At 8.5 feet wide, each vehicle can drive down Black Rock City streets. When on the playa, TechnoGecko will merge like Voltron into a giant interactive experience.
TecknoGecko is a community project by the Dreammakers (501c3 non-profit), the team that brought you the famous DiscoFish in 2011. The DiscoFish had a great run, and her last year was 2017. She brought people together and created so many amazing experiences. But, it’s time to evolve, go even bigger, and do something that nobody has ever done before.
Our team has the expertise and the capability to turn this ridiculous vision into a reality. We are a diverse group of builders, dreamers, innovators, engineers, coders, artists, fabricators, welders, electricians, seamstresses, trainers, and entrepreneurs (Scroll down to see our other crazy projects).
We need your help! All of this amazing technology costs money.
* LEDs: TechnoGecko will be covered in scales containing LEDs similar to leaves on the Tree of Ténéré.
* Custom Chassis: Each of the five “modules” will have a custom frame and wheel pods.
* Wheel Pods: Electric motors + wheels
* Batteries: We have a lot of energy to store.
* Advanced Pyrotechnics: Fire is at the heart of burning man.
* Building materials: tools, and miscellaneous supplies.
* Transportation from Sunnyvale, CA to Black Rock City and back.

For Burning Man 2018, we are focused on designing the base architecture plus building the “robot” side including the stage module and the right side body module. For 2019 we will build the “organic gecko” side.
