TechnoClub Worksop in Haiti
Donation protected
This campaign raises funds for the annual TechnoClub Workshop to be held in Fond-des-Blancs, Haiti, from January 2 to 12, 2019.
2 teachers will lead 10 students from L'École Secondaire de l'Érablière, Gatineau, QC to travel to Fond-des-Blancs and collaborate with over 100 Haitian students. Together they will learn and build projects in Scratch: a computer programming language to create interactive stories, games, and animations.
TechnoClub workshops are centered around science, technology and self-expression, and primarily geared for teens and young adults. Music and storytelling, two deep-seated forms of self-expression in the Haitian culture, are used as conduits to explore new ideas. What sets the TechnoClub workshops apart is the unique combination of innovative technologies with local Haitian creativity.
Your financial contribution will help defray the following expenses for the 12 Canadian travelers to Haiti (10 students and 2 teachers):
- Flights from/to Ottawa - Port-au-Prince: $11,400
- Local transportation in Haiti - 13 days $3,300
- Food $9,420
- Accommodation $7,812
- Various expenses: passports, medical, etc. $3,072
__________
Total $35,004
We need to collect an initial $8,000 to make this trip feasible and begin making traveling arrangements.
