Now, more than ever, the world needs #techmums.
Last year, #techmums research revealed that a lack of digital skills was impacting mums in protecting their children online, finding jobs or returning to the workplace, and their ability to support their own mental health.
This was before Covid-19.
Imagine how staggering these statistics must be right now.
We are simultaneously seeing increased isolation, more mental health challenges, employment losses, and an extreme reliance on technology.
Kids are home from school while parents are trying to navigate the use of new technologies for education and free-time activities.
Information is available through tech channels first.
Finances are more and more under strain and financial help and assistance is often accessed through technology.
For those with limited digital skills, this situation is amplifying the digital skills gap and creating more isolation and challenges than ever before.
We’ve always been working to change this at #techmums but, now, our work is more urgent than ever.
We want to be able to support mums, but we need your support to be able to do this.
That’s why we are launching a donation campaign to support our mums in response to the requests we are receiving on a daily basis to:
- Adapt our in-person content to our online platform so that mums can access #techmums modules to support them in up-skilling in crucial areas like technology and finance, searching for employment online, and keeping themselves and their families safe online.
- Curate our list of resources for mums to access that will further support them at this time and beyond. We’re all dealing with information overload and we are working to provide a curated and audited evergreen list of information for mums, especially in light of the upcoming summer school break.
