Tech Boston Boys Basketball

Donation protected

On December 7,  TechBoston Academy and Henderson boys’ basketball team will travel to our Nation’s Capital for two games, one against Eastern Senior High School of Washington D.C. This year represents the third annual meeting between ESHS, with TechBoston Academy and Henderson traveling down to D.C. two years ago, and TBA hosting ESHS last year.  This series is a very meaningful tradition for our program, as well as our head coach, Johnny Williams.

ESHS is coached by Manny Kakulu, a Boston Public Schools graduate and former player of Coach Williams. Johnny and Manny’s relationship dates back to youth basketball, as Johnny coached Manny on various youth basketball teams as well as his own AAU program. With Johnny serving as his mentor, Manny would go on to play at Lincoln University, a HBCU located in Pennsylvania. Immediately after his playing career ended, Manny pursued a Master’s in Education at American University in D.C. before taking over the ESHS basketball program in 2015. Manny’s success story is one of many for Coach Williams over the years. Our coaching staff believes that exposing young people to positive experiences and positive role models, will enable them to become good citizens and eventually become role models themselves one day.

In addition to fielding a competitive non-conference schedule, our staff always seeks to create challenging and exciting experiences with some of the vacant games on our schedule. This includes the biennial trip to D.C. as well as games against teams from Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New Jersey. During these trips, TechBoston Academy and Henderson student-athletes have the opportunity to interact with coaches and students from schools outside Massachusetts, visit historical landmarks such as the MLK and Lincoln memorials in D.C., and bond as a team during travel.  We also use this as an oppurinty to visit Colleges and Universities in the Washington D.C. area.

With your contribution, we can ensure these experiences happen every season.  Your donation will directly contribute to travel to and from Washington D.C., lodging expenses, team meals, and other activities such as visits to historical landmarks. There is no donation that is too small - our young men will be ecstatic and grateful to know that people are willing to invest in their lives.

On behalf of the TechBoston Academy and Henderson boys’ basketball team, we thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
