Hello #Team Z Family and Friends,

Hello, I am Aunt Jen, as some of you may know…..I am Kimberly’s sister (by choice, not by birth).   If you know any of #Team Z you know they rarely ask for help....that being said, sometimes a little help is exactly what is needed.  The paragraph below details only a small portion of what Rodger is fighting.   As you may know, Rodger is 47 years old and has been married to Kimberly for 20 years.  They have 3 beautiful teenage girls, Kaleigh, Kassidy and Kamryn.   During this fight he has been forced to miss a significant amount of work, often working half days prior to going to treatment. He also has been medically restricted from "wrenching" (physically working on vehicles) for a year now which significantly affects his earnings.  As you know Kimberly is with him EVERY step of the way.  With both of them missing work so often for his multiple appointments, tests and treatments, this has created a significant financial burden.  Then add in the huge amount of medical bills and co-pays…it is never-ending.  With Rodger and Kimberly fighting these ugly diseases, they should not have to worry how they are going to financially survive.   If you are able to donate ANY amount I can assure you it would be appreciated.

A brief synopsis of the current battle:

Rodger is no stranger to fighting….as many of you know he received a Kidney from Kimberly in December 2010 in his fight against PKD.  Now Rodger has Light Chain Deposition Disease which is a very rare blood disease that causes his body to deposit lambda light chains into his kidney, impairing its function and causing him to dump a lot of protein through his urine. He also has Multiple Myeloma which is also a RARE blood cancer (1% of cancers and only 10% of blood cancers) that requires the same treatment protocol as LCDD. He has already undergone 5 months of chemo therapy in preparation for the stem cell retrieval that he had the beginning of August.  The stem cell transplant itself has now been put on indefinite hold because they have now found colon cancer which must be treated before he can undergo the stem cell transplant which is still needed to put his MM into remission.  This wasn't the news they were hoping for however they are the strongest family I know and they are ready to fight!   If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
