Wesley has been in and out of the hospital since he was born. He has been admitted four times already for various issues in these first 7 weeks of his life. We have also been going to weekly appointments to check his weight and stay on top of his heart failure. We were sent home from his most recent admission with a feeding tube to help him gain weight so he can be strong enough for the surgery. The tube requires supplies and with his milk protein allergy, the hypoallergenic formula we have to buy is much more expensive than regular formula. I have also had to completely change my diet to dairy/soy free foods which are also more expensive. I am pumping breastmilk but because of the extra work on his heart he requires increased calorie intake so we have to fortify with formula. As he does gain weight we are required to pick up new prescriptions of his medication in order to stay up to date with his current dose.
Andy works when he can but is still in school as a full time student. I have used all of my PTO for maternity leave , which was extended due to one of his hospital stays, so I will not be getting paid when I take off 3 weeks (assuming there are no complications) for his surgery. All of these extra expenses are adding up and piling on top of our regular monthly bills and we are not able to keep up. We appreciate all of the prayers and support we are receiving from our friends and family. We love you all and will continue to keep you updated on sweet Wesley's health.
