Tanner Haywood is 17 years old and goes to Greenbrier High School in Evans, GA. Tanner was first diagnosed in March of 2015 with Ewing Sarcoma, he completed his treatment in January 2016 & enjoyed 18 months cancer free but on 8/4/17 found out that the Ewing sarcoma has returned. After battling & winning a second time, he was cancer free for 10 months. On 12/5/18, routine scans showed that the cancer has returned for the 3rd time.
Friends of the Haywood family created this account to help with medical expenses during Tanner's treatment. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support of #teamtanner!
A note from Leslie & Tripp Haywood (Tanners parents):
We were just a normal family, "livin the dream", until March 17, 2015. That's the day we took Tanner to Champion Orthopedics to have his right lower leg looked at because he had been complaining of intermittent pain for a few months. After the x-ray showed something "concerning", Tanner was sent for an MRI, with the hopes that what was seen on the x-ray was a cyst or old fracture. Unfortunately it did not & the day after Tanners 14th birthday, we were told we needed to be seen by a specialist for what appeared to be a sarcoma. Two weeks & a battery of test later, Tanner was officially diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma on March 23rd. It was the most shocking news we have ever received for our family! We have clung to our hope & faith in God & strongly believe that we have greater days ahead! Tanner has a very positive attitude, despite the "fast & furious" treatment plan that has been prescribed. Tanner chose the scripture from Matthew 19:26 which says, "With God, ALL things are possible", as his motto for this journey! He has been such an inspiration to many in such a short time!
12/11/18 It's really hard to believe that our child is about to battle this nasty cancer for the 3rd time. We don't know what the future holds but we know who holds our future & we are so very thankful for your support on this tough journey.
