In August 2018, I left Holland and moved back to Sierra Leone (I am originally from Ghana) with my family to concentrate on and be closer to a new initiative I have started - a for-profit think tank. Our branding started off as a consultancy - 10% of fees go towards Knowledge Creation - so we have done some few works on the last election - www.thinkafrica-institute.org/resources. We also have a dedicated but still under construction for our "government tracker". This is a first in Sierra Leone that is NOT funded. In January, we collected data to validate the work of the most powerful city council in Sierra Leone - the Freetown City Council.
But, functioning as a for-profit business is challenging and also very rewarding.
We also have done many firsts - first to predict an election in Sierra Leone (without travelling to every polling station or using the electoral commission's data). First to track governance, first to release election outcomes on the eve of voting - giving us more than 48 hrs ahead of official polls, first for-profit think tank in West Africa, etc, etc
This also means we need to constantly show leadership and innovate. In September, we started saving towards a $5690 solar system and here is where we need your support...
"Our Search for $3,500 towards Solar Panels in our Offices!" Our solar system will make us 80-90% dependable on the Sun during the day and 100% during the night.
What this means is, we can save between Le 500,000 and Le 1,000,000 per month! In return, these savings can go towards our data collection and maintenance of our #govTracker project (See more at www.govTracker.thinkafrica-institute.org).
Every Cent, Cedi, Leone, Euro, Dollar, Pound, etc counts.
We accept donations up until the end of March 2019, though earlier is preferable.
