For those of you who don't know
Stacie, she is simply amazing! On May 7th she gave birth to a
beautiful baby boy Brady (Little Brother of Zoie). Unfortunately 5 days later on May 12th,
she suffered a stroke from two brain aneurisms! She was rushed to surgery where they were able
to remove one but the other was too deep to operate on. The next few weeks were
touch and go as she was in a very
fragile state. Throughout her stay at the hospital she spent time in the Stroke Unit and the Intensive Therapy Unit. During her hospital stay she continued to make incredible progress. The stroke caused paralysis to the right side of her body. The team at UofM worked very hard to get Stacie the therapy she needed to begin her recovery. Soon her walking improved and she was showing signs of improvement in her speech. She was discharged from UofM on August 9th and she finally got to go home. On September 10th she had surgery to replace her skull cap and she was yet again a triumphant patient with a determined attitude. As of September 24th, she had all her stitches and staples removed, and she is now ready to continue here rehabilitation. Unfortunately insurance will no longer cover the cost for her therapy that is imperative for continued recovery! Doctors say that the first year of therapy is the most important. However, the financial expense of treatment 2-3 times a week will be very taxing on the family. Brady, Zoe and her husband Bryan deserve to have Stacie at her best! TEAM STACIE asks you all to open your hearts and help this family in their healing process!
Team STACIE will be hosting a fundraising dinner on Saturday, November 23rd at the Legion Hall in Stockbridge, Michigan. We understand that there are several people that would like to support the family but may not be able to attend the event.
