Tuesday morning Nov 11, 2014 Seth was brought into the Banner Thunderbird Hospital ER. He was in distress. He was confused, didnt know who he was, who his mother or father were or his five year old twin sister Kayla was. He had lost all muscle control. His right eye was droopy, he had urinated on himself, passed out and was turning blue. His pupils were enlarging and contracting.
The Drs quickly ran tests for meningitis, did CT scans, blood work, drug tests, ekg ect. All tests came back negative pending the menengitis (takes 72 hours) and began supportive care by placing him on an IV and in a light sedative state so he could not remove his IV.
He was admittedthe the PICU late Tuesday evening.
Over the course of the next 48 hours he continued to have reapeted seizure activity . Upwards of 50 lasting in severity and length up to 20 minutes. At this point there is concern over long term brain damage so the DRs determined it would be best to place Seth in a medically induced coma in an attempt to stop the seizures. This is the priority for the brain must stop seizing in order to maintain saftey. The idea is to continue to increase the seizure medication until the brain stops seizing OR the body functions start to fail as a result of the massive amounts of drugs that are in his body.
Today, he continues to seize tho they have lessoned in number and length. They have had to stop one seizure medication just this afternoon because his kidneys are now struggling. His blood pressure is also a concern but he is otherwise holding on. The DR say children are resilient and his body could continue to be strong for several weeks.
I am asking for you to please give what ever you can. Any amount helps. His mother has obviously not returned to work and has no income. I would like to raise enough money so that she may continue to sit with him at the hospital, as well as also take any extra time that she has to comfort his twin sister Kayla whos heart is breaking along with the rest of his families.
I would also like to ask for your prayers, thoughts, love and light to help heal him and bring him home.
