Welcome to Scout's CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. Scout was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma (type of bone cancer) on September 6, 2018.  The largest cancer weed is on her fibula with a smaller weed on her tibia.  We have since learned (through her PET scan) that this aggressive disease has been found on her lower vertebrae and "seeds" have been found in her lymph node in her leg.  She will chemotherapy on September 17, 2018.

Enough about her disease.

About Scout: Scout Marie Hughes, age 10, is one of the brightest stars you will meet.  She is full of energy, spunk, sass, sarcasm, ideas, plans, goals, confidence, and drive.  She was early and eager to hit every milestone and keep up with her older sister Sienna.  A large case of FOMO (fear of missing out), Scout wants to be in the middle of anything and everything that is happening.  Her current obsession is watching youtube videos of people making crafts and slime.  Since diagnosed and having to leave school, we have stocked up on art/craft supplies and have created something every day.  "Art is life".  She loves her family and friends and has enjoyed receiving cards of love and support.

Thank you, friends, family, co-workers, and acquaintances, for all you have done thus far to support our Champion Scout, and of the rest of our family too, big sister Sienna, Mom Tiffany and Dad Jason.   We appreciate your tireless efforts and words of hope and encouragement.  We are updating family and friends of Scout's progress in one place via her CaringBridge website.  You can go to the site, create a profile account, and view updates as you wish, or choose to be notified each time a new update has been posted.    https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/scouthughes

Many of you have asked us how you can help support Scout:

Right now, what she'd like most is something special from you, to let her know that you're thinking of her and supporting her, like cards, or homemade gifts from you, or visits if you're able.  Also welcome, are gifts or ideas of things to do while she's at the hospital and at home and not feeling so great, bored, and low energy because of the chemo and being out of school.

Because many of you still said you'd like to support us by sending funds, we decided to create this Go Fund Me account.  From here we can purchase items that Scout wants to help entertain her or will bring her comfort, meals or housecleaning services for the family so we can spend more quality time with her, and for other needs that may arise in the future.

But, really, what we want more than anything is knowing that you're there, thinking, loving, praying for, and sending healthy and positive energy to our Scout for a full and long-term recovery and permanent remission for this disease.  Thank you, and love to you all.

With love,
The Hughes Family
