disabled veteran needs surgery

Donation protected
My Name is Sandy Madrid, I was injured in the line of duty in 2002, I have been a disabled vet since I was 22 years old.

I have a wonderful husband and 3 young children Kyla (10) Layla (5) and my son Deacon (3)

shortly after Deacon was born in 2011 I found out I had a chiari Malformation in my brain.  At that point the VA decideed to keep an eye on it, since i was not sympomatic. Around May 2014 I started having awful headaches that could not compare to what a migrain felt like. gradually the pain got worst and more frequent especially when I coughed, sneezed, laughed, cryied etc. I had a second MRI with the VA that they explained there was no change from 2011 to 2014 in my chiari and told me to follow up in 3 months.

I couldnt deal with the pain that was increasing by the day so after over a month of asking the VA for permision to see a private neruologist. I finally got to go see a civilain at UNMH after some tests on thier end I found out that not only did my chiari significantly change for the worst but My CSF (fluid that circulates around my brain and down my spin) was completely blocked.

So now I am schedualed to have a brain decompression surgery that the VA will not cover. My surgery will be on January 27th 2015 and although I have private insurance. It will not cover 100% of the costs. leaving me and my little famaily to figure out how to come up with the differnce.

Please consider making a donation. any amount is appreciated.

An update: I was in the hospital for 5 days after surgery and was released to go home. I went home and was home for 2.5 days on that 3rd day I woke up with a bubble under my skin by my insission. I was rushed to the ER, I was admitted and spent another week in the hospital under strick bed rest. After that the docs found I was well enough to be transfered to a rehab facility. But after less then 24 hours at the facility, I coded I stop breathing and was unresponsive for about 20 min. I was rushed by ambulance back to the hospital and spent the remainder of the day in the ER. That evening I was able to be transfered back to the rehab. So now I'm back on track for rehabilitation and am hoping I will be able to go home by next weekend. Please help. We definitely did not plan for 3 weeks in the hospital and more time in rehab. Anything helps, we appreciate you and anything you can do to help us. Thank you.
