Rickie Raymond Medical Expense Fund

Dear friends and family of Rickie & Stacey Brown, as most of you all know Rickie and Stacey Brown gave birth to a beautiful baby boy.

Rickie Raymond was born on April 21, 2014 weighing 8lbs 2oz 19 1/2 inches long. Throughout his short life he has been a loveable, happy little guy but his problems began shortly after he was born. At just 4 weeks old, baby Rickie began having projectile vomiting, and went to the doctor several times, including a GI specialist at Childrens Hospital of Madera and were left with questions unanswered.  They were desperate for help, he was changed from his formula and tried on 6 different formula's, even breast milk from a donor. Rickie began to progress into vomiting on a daily basis, multiple times. About two weeks ago they noticed Rickie was breathing harder than he normally had (which was hard since birth). They decided to take him to the emergency room to have his breathing checked out. He was admitted for observation overnight. The next morning the nursing staff at the hospital felt there was something just not right. After talking to the Pediatric doctor an echocardiogram was ordered...

They received devastating news that their son, Rickie Raymond, was found to have a rare congenital heart defect and needed to be transferred urgently to UCSF.

Since his arrival they have learned that baby Rickie will undergo Open Heart Surgery on Thursday June 19th where they will repair his defect. He was diagnosed with obstructive TAPVR, Obstructive Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return, where all of his pulmonary veins are going to the coranary sinus in the right side of his heart instead of the left atrium. TAPVR is a rare congenital malformation, the surgery is expected to be 5-6hrs long.

As you can imagine, as a parent that in its self is very difficult to hear. Since arriving to UCSF Rickie and his family have already acquired over a $1000 in expenses in less than 3 days, and only one night in a hotel.  San Francisico is very expensive, Lodging on average, before taxes and parking is around 150-200 a night.

The staff has been awesome and have provided Rickie and Stacey with a lot of resources, including the Ronald McDonald House, but unfortunately there is a waiting list that is very long.
As of right now the Brown family is being told that they could potentially be at the hospital for at least two weeks.

Let's all pull together and do what we can to take even some stress off of this family. Any amount, big or small can help and is SO greatly appreciated. Words of encouragment are also always welcomed. We will post updates as much as possible here as well as on facebook. Please be mindful of texts and calls during this stressful time.

Thank you and with love, Rickie and Stacey's Family.
