This fund is to support Ewelina Poplawska, and those who rely on her, with the many expenses that she will incur during this tough time.

Ewelina's husband - Piort Poplawski has several illnesses which he has struggled with and still is, regardless of his condition he always tried to provide for his family as much as he was able to. He was the only breadwinner while Ewelina was looking after the youngest son. At the beginning of September - Piotr wasn’t feeling well - he suffered from severe headache, vomiting and insomnia - when he went to his local GP to seek the medical support- he was sent back home several times with the advice that during this time of the year it's quite normal to catch the virus. He followed every instruction given but after 5 days the symptoms got worse to the point he could barely walk. He desperately went to the A&E in Peterborough Hospital and within the next 24 hours he was transferred to Cambridge Hospital and has been diagnosed with Tuberculosis.

Tuberculosis (TB) bacteria most often affects the lungs and if untreated it spreads from person to person through the air. Poplawski’s family was temporarily renting a room with the man who was infected with TB bacteria they only discovered this when Piotr got to the hospital and was informed by the doctor that the person whom they are renting with also is infected with this virus. This man never ever made anyone aware of his illness and he is still working in the local take away! The whole situation is currently investigated by the local Council.

During this time the whole family became infected by the virus, as Piotr’s immune system is so weak he caught TB and has now ended up in a battle of life and death.

He’s current state is critical – he’s suffering extensive complications like Meningococcal Encephalitis and Hydrocephalus. As of today the doctors are unable to confirm if his current state will ever change.

Ewelina's income is drastically low which means she is unbale to move out., since Piotr was transported to Cambridge she only seen him twice due to lack of funds and means to get to Cambridge.

This is especially important, considering that Ewelina does not have the safety net many of us have in our jobs. Through this arduous journey, Ewelina has been an absolute inspiration – the mother of 3 young boys would never give up and stop trying to survive another day.

Myself and my family are supporting the family as much as we can however we would like to reach out to you for any support, no matter how little, will help with travel, accommodation and time away from employment. Even the smallest amount is appreciated more than these words can say. Any unused items/funds will be passed to another charity.

We hope that with your help, support and generosity we can alleviate some of the stress that Ewelina is dealing with. While this won’t change the deeply saddening position, it would be a massive support.
