Philip Ormston a.k.a "Ormie", is a fighter. May 17, 2014, on Hwy 380 in Savannah, TX, Philip was in a car that was hit by a drunk driver. Philip's only injury was to his head, which caused a lot of serious swelling and bruising to his brain. He underwent a craniectomy about a week after injury to reduce the pressure on his brain, and within hours of the surgery, began moving his arms and legs in response to pain!
One of Philip's biggest battles is with disphagia where he has a hard time getting the muscles of his mouth and throat to work together so he can speak/swallow /eat. He also has muscle tone and spasticity in his left side which makes it very difficult for him to do things on his own. His therapists are amazing and always working with Philip so that he can do more and more on his own. We are looking into some new therapies, as well, that will specifically target his TBI (traumatic brain injury).
We are so proud of how far Philip has come! He is such a hard-working, and determined young man - those of you who know him can attest to that!
We are appreciative of any and all donations, and are thankful for your support and prayers! None of this would be possible without the good Lord at our side and the amazing power of prayer! So many of you have been with us since the beginning, and it means so much that you're still by our side and still going strong - so thank you all!
