Before it's too late

There is a place in Japan where more people live to 100 than anywhere else in the world. Okinawa. What’s the secret? How do we harness this for ourselves?

Well, bad news friends; whatever it is, is fading into history as the older generation dies and the younger generation changes with modernization.

Soon, these secrets will be lost.

We are a group of global filmmakers, working with the 5 time Emmy Award-winning team from Muse Storytelling –donating our own time, energy, and resources to tell the story of a remarkable Okinawan woman named Tomi-San for the original web series The Remarkable Ones.

We have to tell her story before it is too late.

Forget the traditional diet of sweet potatoes and seaweed—instant ramen and energy drinks are the order of the day for 94-year-old Tomi. At barely 4 feet tall, with a huge toothless grin, it would be easy to underestimate this woman...but this tiny powerhouse leads a well known Japanese pop band, with an average age of 84.

But this awe inspiring longevity isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Tomi has outlived most of her friends, and even her husband and son. Imagine being in your 90’s but feeling utterly alone.

How does one continue living when faced with both loneliness and loss of purpose?

Without translators, we cannot unlock understanding into Tomi’s world and way of life to answer this question.

We’ve found the right individuals to help us—they have heard Tomi’s story and are as inspired as we are, but the cost to cover their travel and accommodations on the Island is not in our budget.

$10,000 is a daunting amount (see the breakdown below), but that’s why we are banding together to make this a reality. We believe this story needs to be told, and EVERY gift, whether large or small, brings us one step closer.

Donate today, and help us tell this story before it has been forgotten.

Arigato, from Team Okinawa!
